The Faculty of Kinesiology and the MOMENTUM Women's Health Research Collaborative invite applications for a Project Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the project lead, Dr. Nicole Culos-Reed. This position supports and works closely with the MOMENTUM Research Core Team (McDonough, Reimer, Din, Kenny, Gabel, Barha, Edgett, St. John, Doyle-Baker, Schneider).

Work hours may vary when required to reach changing deadlines, workloads and priorities in a dynamic project environment, and may including some weekend/evening hours.

The newly formed MOMENTUM team is a research collaborative in the Faculty of Kinesiology. The position is looking for a passionate, engaged, organized individual with research experience and expertise in women's health.

This is a recurring full-time position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8-4 with some flexibility required to shift hours to evenings/weekends as necessary for participant engagement.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Master's or Doctrate degree "within a health-related field, with preferred experience in women's health, movement, and wellness research.
  • Previous experience as a project/clinical research coordinator (3 years minimum)
  • Experience in a research environment (3-5 years)
  • Experience with setting up research protocols
  • Ability to plan and direct research and administrative activities for a cohort study
  • Ability to support study team members, including larger networks of participants, clinicians, trainees, and community partners
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality of participant information
  • Ability to manage participant bookings and testing for onsite, remote, and online settings
  • Knowledge of University systems and policies (including ethics)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently within a team
  • Computer literacy MS Windows, Word, Excel, MS Outlook, REDCap
  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed (primarily weekday regular hours)

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • With minimal supervision, perform a range of duties to effectively coordinate the MOMENTUM Cohort Study as well as to support PIan's with sub-studies in menopause.
  • Manage recruitment and enrollment of participants at local site, and engage in community outreach for engagement with participants in community-settings.
  • Organize and ensure all research protocol tasks are completed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Direct and perform administrative duties related to the cohort study including: organizing and filing of confidential study records, preparing required paperwork for study visits, scheduling research participant visits, reminder calls for research visits, coordinating schedules of staff required for study visits, maintaining financial records and ensuring participant reimbursements for expenses.
  • Perform complete and accurate data collection and entry as well as basic statistical analysis and production of reports.
  • Answer research participant's questions regarding the study, explain what the study involves.
  • Coordinate storage and shipment of various biological samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.) .
  • Keep workstations, clinical exam rooms and teaching rooms clean and safe during and after use.
  • Maintenance of study supplies: Order supplies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective, productive relationships with the MOMENTUM Research Core Team PIs, staff, peers, The University of Calgary community, clinical partners, community partners, and others as necessary for the successful completion of the cohort study and all associated activities.
  • Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager and co-investigators to be kept informed of activities, and progress of work.
  • Facilitates transparent communication with the Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board and Investigators to complete protocol modifications, deviations and renewals in a timely fashion.
  • Supports sub-study development, including coordinating grant submissions and all associated documents.
  • Supports presentation and publication development.
