Job Summary
This Research Assistant position will provide research-oriented support to projects focused on the Weber Lab's mission which is to improve our understanding of how the brain develops in infants and how certain neurological disorders can affect this development. The Research Assistant will work on Brain Criticality research studies and other research related tasks to support the program's initiatives under the guidance and direction of Dr Alexander Weber. The role will involve programming, advanced maths and statistics, MRI data analysis, reading and summarizing scientific literature, keeping detailed notes, requiring attention to detail and accuracy to help ensure the integrity of the analysis performed.
Organizational Status
The Research Assistant will support the Weber Lab's initiatives under the guidance and direction of Dr. Weber.
Work Performed
- Writing simple programs in Python, Matlab, and Bash
- Keep easy to read and understand instructions, and version control through git and github
- Work with Linux operating system
- Analyze MRI data using software such as FSL, ANTs, Freesurfer, AFNI, etc.
- Perform basic literature searches, retrieve scientific journal articles; prepare and maintain a reference library
- Perform other administrative/clerical duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors in judgement would impact negatively on the program's reputation and productivity.

The Research Assistant will work under the guidance and direction of Dr. Weber.

Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergrad education in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Neuroscience, and/or Computer Science or an equivalent
