One of the core goals of these services is to help people with mental illness develop the personal tools to lead meaningful and productive lives.

Position Summary:
The Community Program Coordinator is the face of CMHA of NB in the communities they serve and is responsible for promoting the mental health of all people through education sessions, public awareness activities, advocacy, and helping people navigate to existing resources. The Community Program Coordinator's main responsibilities include delivering presentations and webinars on mental health and wellness, facilitating provincial programs and workshops, coordinating, and facilitating educational and therapeutic based programming, planning anti-stigma awareness activities, and representing CMHA of NB on community committees. This position is a community-based position rather than an office position. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Regional Team Leader at CMHA of NB.

Responsibilities:

Program and Service Delivery:

  • Deliver CMHA of NB approved core presentations on mental health, mental illness, and wellness.
  • Responsible for scheduling, securing venue, advertising, promotion, preparing participant handouts, taking registrations, and maintaining a program participant and evaluation database.
  • Ensure that creative briefs are submitted to the communications team in a timely manner according to their guidelines.
  • Facilitate self-help/support groups or serve as a resource to existing support groups within the area.
  • Act as a regional resource navigator. Responsible for following up on all requests stemming from education sessions, such as referring an individual to Addictions and Mental Health Services or other agency and/or providing additional information on programs and services, etc.
  • Promote and facilitate programs and workshops such as Changing Minds, Co-Workers First, ASIST, safeTALK, and Living Life to The Full (if certified).
  • Arrange for professionals to lead therapeutic based programming. Ensure that facilitator agreements are signed prior to groups being advertised.
  • Provide facilitators with coordination, appreciation, and support such as providing materials and space.

Program Development, Quality, Safety and Monitoring:

  • Oversight of regional service delivery including meeting standards of practice, adhering to PHIPPA and confidentiality.
  • Responsible for ensuring the goals and objectives of a specific program are met in accordance with established priorities, time, and funding limitations.
  • To work in collaboration with the Committee on the development and review of programs, workshops, and services for CMHA of NB as requested.
  • Responsible for providing and administering evaluations for the delivered services and submitting the completed evaluation form to the CMHA research analysis department.
  • In collaboration with the Regional Team Leader periodically evaluate and report on programs and workshops.
  • Work with the Regional Team Leader and group facilitators to identify opportunities and resolve concerns and discuss the targets annually.
  • Public Awareness
  • Educate the public on CMHA of NB programs and services through social media, provide articles for the website, newspaper, radio spots, and information kiosks with the approval of the program manager.
  • Public information sessions and activities CMHA Mental Health Week, Suicide Prevention Month, and Mental Illness Awareness Week, and others as requested.

Lead local anti-stigma awareness activities.

  • Networking/Partnerships
  • Represent CMHA of NB on relevant committees as a member or chair in the community.
  • Represent CMHA of NB on relevant provincial committees when requested.
  • Collaborate or support committee-based initiatives/work.
  • Network with community agencies, organizations, and groups to keep them informed of CMHA activities in their area, help to avoid duplication of services and be involved in applicable community events offered by other organizations.
  • Partner with relevant existing community groups, organizations, and agencies, both public and private, to strengthen current services in order to meet individual community needs.

Volunteers:

  • Recruit volunteers to help with anti-stigma awareness activities as needed.
  • Ensure that volunteers complete the appropriate CMHA of NB volunteer application form, sign an oath of confidentiality, and complete criminal record and vulnerable sector screening.
  • Provide volunteers with orientation, training, support, coordination, supervision, and appreciation.

Advocacy:

  • Responsible for informing manager of programs/the regional CPC Team Lead of advocacy being taken / if requested to help an individual access services, acquire a health care card, etc. The Community Program Coordinator may also refer individuals to other agencies that may advocate on their behalf.
  • The Executive Director at CMHA of NB is responsible for provincial advocacy. The Community Program Coordinator shall report any concerns on a provincial scope to the Executive Director.
  • Provide client support, information, and referral.

Administration:

  • Complete and submit mandatory reports with Teams and caseWORKS immediately.
  • Maintain all aspects of personal office (telephone calls, correspondence, filing and email)
  • Maintain up to date information in the CMHA of NB registrant database, confidentiality and data management practices.
  • Attend all scheduled team meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with Post secondary studies or coursework in areas related to Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Education, etc. and 3 to 5 years of work experience, delivering educational programming in this field. A combination of work experience and education will be considered.
  • A valid Work Permit is mandatory for temporary residents.
  • Proficiency in both English and French languages is mandatory for the positions in Edmundston, Bathurst.
  • Proficiency in both English and French languages is an asset for the position in Fredericton.
  • A new Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365 is required.
  • Knowledge of the formal NB mental health system, community organizations, and resources, including CMHA of NB programs, is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • The workweek is 37.5 hours.
