Please Note: This temporary position is irregularly scheduled on-call and the hours of work vary from 0-40 hours per week, with no minimum guaranteed number of hours.

What can I expect to do in this role?In a large-volume facility kitchen, you will:
• Prepare meals and maintain food inventory/rotation
• Maintain housekeeping and sanitary work conditions
• Inspect eating facilities and equipment
• Follow menus, work schedules and dietary charts, and substitute menu changes
• Serve and portion meals
• Train and supervise youth helpers

How do I qualify?Food Services Knowledge and Experience• You know how to cook for both small and large groups
• You can follow menus and adjust for special diets
• You know how to use kitchen equipment safely
• You understand food safety and portion control
• You keep your work area clean and sanitary
• You know health and safety standards like WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Other Essential Skills• You can learn and follow kitchen safety and security rules
• You communicate well and work great in a team
• You can supervise and train resident helpers professionally
• You can write reports about the work of resident helpers
• You can solve problems with kitchen equipment and food service issues efficiently
