Senior Tailings Engineer

Position Description:

Reporting to the Surface Operations Manager, this position is responsible for managing the Tailings team and ensuring the facility is operated, monitored and performing according to the design criteria and intent as well as the applicable regulations and standards. This person will also be responsible for all tailings expansion projects

Responsibilities:
Ensure strong safety performance and zero Lost-Time injuries within the Mill Tailings department, Manage the operation, maintenance, and surveillance of the Tailings Management Facility (TMF), Oversee day to day operational and maintenance issues associated with the construction of the TMF, in conjunction with other departments as required, Liaise with the Engineer of Record on monitoring data, quality data and production plans, Act as the TMF Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer as defined in the GISTM, MAC and Barrick Tailings Standard, Responsible for short-term and long-term planning, staffing plans, budgeting, permitting and execution for the development of the TMF, Responsible for the review and updating of the MOS manual and the training of all site personal responsible for implementing the OMS Oversee supervision of the operations team associated with the management of the TMF, Integral role in implementing the Water Management Plan associated with the mill and TMF and responsible for the site wide water balance, Integrated into the Mill department to provide support and coordination when required for department wide projects such as, but not limited to, mill shutdowns, civil construction projects and, Ensure compliance with all TMF design requirements, and applicable safety and environmental regulations, company policies and standards.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mining/Geological Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited curriculum is required. A minimum of eight (8) years experience, including significant time spent managing tailings storage facilities. P. Eng designation or ability to register with PEO as a Professional Engineer, Previous management experience in a technical environment with proven leadership abilities. Must have current working knowledge of all applicable regulations: Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), ICMM, MAC, CDA, etc. Excellent oral, written, active listening skills with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills to present ideas clearly, Experience with related engineering software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, GoldSim, Muck 3D etc.) is an asset Solid understanding of government regulations and demonstrated ability to impact safe working practices Highly organized with excellent project management and analysis skills, Proactive and achievement-oriented, focused on satisfying customer requirements, Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team and achieve results
