Job Summary:

As a part of Calgary Economic Development's Marketing & Communications team, the Marketing Coordinator supports the planning and execution of marketing and communications programs and initiatives that promote Calgary as the location of choice for business, investment and career growth locally and in key markets nationally and internationally.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Manager of Marketing and broader team to plan, develop, implement and evaluate overall marketing and communications programs to achieve the goals of the organization; including but not limited to:
    • Paid advertising campaigns (print, digital, Out-of-home, social)
    • Lead generation campaigns (ex: email marketing/ nurturing campaigns)
    • Web development and content
    • Collateral (printed & digital)
    • Event communications
    • Social media content
    • Sponsored content
  • Act as a corporate and city brand ambassador within the organization and with Calgary's other promotional agencies; develops consistent approach and tools to maintain brand integrity.
  • Assist with brand asset collection and curation (images, social graphics, landing pages development).
  • Develop content for digital and social media, email campaigns, websites, collateral, and videos.
  • Work with agencies, suppliers and sponsors to execute marketing and communications programs that are planned to meet objectives in area of focus.
  • Coordinate printing/purchase of materials across CED and affiliates to ensure optimum purchase price and seeks to be preferred client with vendors supporting marketing programs.
  • Manage project schedules for campaigns/events/PR initiatives.
  • Assist with event planning and logistics across the organization.
  • Other administrative tasks as required such as booking meetings, and reconciling budgets.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other relevant experience


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of technical experience in marketing, communications or other related industries.


Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated understanding of:
    • Branding
    • Copywriting
    • Graphic Design
    • Email Marketing Skills
    • Social Media Marketing/Social Media Scheduling Tools (Hootsuite, Sproutsocial)
    • Print Design
    • Campaign integration / content management
    • Writing for the web (SEO understanding)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PPT
  • Design skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign) are an asset.
  • Experience creating social content, including video content, is an asset.
  • Experience with CMS and CRM platforms, as well as digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics is an asset.
