Marsh seeks a Senior Claims Advocate to join our Calgary Claims Team. Marsh is willing to consider residency in various jurisdictions across Western Canada.

The Senior Claims Advocate is responsible for facilitating loss management within the defined operational parameters of the claims team to ensure the prompt and equitable resolution of client claims.  Reporting directly to the Western Claims Leader, this position requires a professional with substantial experience in client claims advocacy, insurer claim examination and or third party claim adjusting.   This individual will be technically focused and able to drive initiatives to handle complex claims across multiple lines of insurance.   In-depth knowledge of Insurance Markets and their claim resolution procedures is a requirement for this hire.

We will Count on you to:

  • Having ownership of hands-on active claim management, coverage reviews, problem solving and settlement strategies for clients.

  • Analyzing loss details to determine appropriate policies and coverage.

  • Driving the claims process for clients through participation in claims strategy discussions in order to ensure progress and equitable resolution.

  • Interacting closely with internal Client Executives and Claims Advocacy colleagues to better the claim experience for clients.

  • Having a strong focus on clients and providing value-add claim services

  • Working closely with internal and external leadership groups to foster understanding of how to mitigate Marsh risk by closing claims optimally.

  • Providing support to Broking teams by participating in the creation of client specific claim protocols.

  • Monitoring insurer responses to reported claims and engaging with insurers and their professional advisers in order to support the expeditious and smooth resolution of claims.

  • Liaising and working closely with other claims team members to develop claim management best practice.

  • Drafting communication to clients and/or insurers and reviewing documents prepared by the clients, in order to support the claims process.

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Providing technical claim assistance, leadership and mentoring to colleagues.

What you Need to Have:

  • 5+ yearsâ experience in a commercial claims environment either at the adjustor, carrier, legal, or brokerage level

  • University degree or College certification

  • Designations of CIP, CAIB, CRM, or LL.B all assets

  • In-depth understanding of relevant insurance law and claim litigation procedures

  • Direct involvement with large, complex, casualty and property losses

  • Strong carrier relationships and detailed knowledge of insurance market claim procedures

What Makes You Stand Out?

  • Understanding of commercial loss adjusting

  • Experience in a loss adjusting firm or insurance examiner firm

  • Familiarity with government, municipal, or similar industry claims is an asset

The applicable base salary range for this role is $67,000 to $147,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
