FTE: 1.00 – Temporary

The expected start date is August 26, 2024 and will complete on May 16, 2025, or will be based upon the return of the incumbent.

The competition will remain open until May 15, 2024 at 10:00am.

Nicholas Sheran Elementary School is home to approximately 385 students and is situated in West Lethbridge on Nicholas Sheran Park. We work alongside our students and families as we learn, grow, and play on the traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy and the Indigenous peoples who are deeply connected to the land. Lethbridge is located just two hours south of Calgary and close to the Rocky Mountains and U.S. border. It is a family-oriented and culturally vibrant community with many amenities of a larger city. Subjects

Nicholas Sheran Elementary School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional educator to join their team as a Grade 2 teacher. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting students in learning, be enthusiastic, flexible, and an energetic team player who:

  • Has an understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy instruction along with an appreciation for the range of learning needs and complexities that are present in a grade two classroom.
  • Has a collaborative approach to teaching and learning, with an understanding of the importance of independent planning that contributes to a strong grade level team, and an appreciation for working alongside colleagues school wide.
  • Has a curious and inquisitive outlook, a growth mindset, and an optimistic, student-focused approach to planning for student success in all its diverse forms.
  • Has an appreciation for the importance of creating safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environments for all students within a strongly managed classroom.
  • Demonstrates their commitment to reducing discrimination, bias, and barriers to education for our students, along with a willingness to continuously learn and grow.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
