Accounting Clerk A, EWSWA (12-month contract) Department: Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority Position Type: Full-time Temporary (35 hrs./week) Location: Essex, Ontario Posting #: SWA-21-25 Opening Date: November 28, 2025 Internal Closing Date: December 6, 2025 Closing Date: December 13, 2025 Role Snapshot (Our Elevator Pitch) Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration for the EWSWA, the Accounting Clerk A is responsible for the administration of data and information associated with the Geoware Waste Management Information System software program. In addition, Accounting Clerk A will be responsible for the processing and preparation of customer account invoices and statements; maintenance of accounts receivables and the various reporting requirements requested by EWSWA managers, contractors and City of Windsor Administration. The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County and the City in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling. What You'll Do In this role, you will be responsible for: Using the Geoware software to administer data and information pertaining to landfill and transfer station customers, including but not limited to customer business information, tipping fee rates, vehicle information and waste material types. Managing customer accounts and preparing statements using the Sage accounting software. Assist with the maintenance and support of security access systems, including security camera software. Assist the County of Essex I.T. department with the management of all EWSWA sites' hardware and software changes/updates. Provides back-up for EWSWA Accounting Clerk 'B'. Generate reports using the Geoware software for EWSWA management, contractors and City of Windsor Administration. What You Bring Education and Commitment to Growth: 2-year college diploma in the area of Business Administration/Accounting Experience and Expertise: 1-2 years of related experience Preference is given to applicants also possessing education and experience in IT systems and support Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Programs Working knowledge of Sage or other accounting software Knowledge of accounting principles and concepts Excellent verbal and written communication skills Organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail Able to perform moderate lifting and bending, as required Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Class "G" Ontario driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified) Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document What We Are Offering As a CUPE position, this role is on Band 8 with a starting hourly rate of $32.26, and that is just the beginning.
