Job Description:

Reporting to the Regional EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for establishing and promoting safe and healthy working conditions for all employees and investigates conditions that may affect employee health and safety.

This role is on-site (5) days a week in Toronto ON or Varennes QC

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs (e.g. hazardous materials, safe operation of equipment, emergency response plans) in compliance with regulatory legislation.
  • Assists in analysis, interpretation and validation of information on hazardous materials/chemicals and exposure monitoring results.
  • Assists in the development of Job Safety Assessments (JSA's) and provides support to businesses in identifying, creating, and reviewing safe work instructions and procedures.
  • Conducts incident investigations, root cause analysis, and drives corrective action implementation.
  • Conducts EHS assessments (PPE, Hazard/Risk for new equipment/process, safety walks, 5S, etc.) in addition to promoting proactive and preventive EHS activities by observing, analyzing and encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
  • Assists in the creation and review of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Assists in evaluating programs and instructing employees in matters pertaining to occupational health, prevention of accidents, safe operation of equipment and proper handling/cleanup of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Ensures employees obtain and received required safety training.
  • Read and follow the UL Solutions Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Aide à la mise en œuvre et au maintien de programmes environnementaux, de santé et de sécurité (EHS) (par exemple, matières dangereuses, fonctionnement sûr des équipements, plans d'intervention d'urgence) conformément à la législation réglementaire.
  • Aide à l'analyse, à l'interprétation et à la validation des informations sur les matières/produits chimiques dangereux et aux résultats de la surveillance de l'exposition.
  • Aide à l'élaboration d'évaluations de la sécurité au travail (JSA) et fournit un soutien aux entreprises dans l'identification, la création et la révision des instructions et procédures de travail sécuritaires.
  • Mener des enquêtes sur les incidents, analyser les causes profondes et piloter la mise en œuvre des mesures correctives.
  • Effectuer des évaluations EHS (EPI, danger/risque pour les nouveaux équipements/processus, visites de sécurité, 5S, etc.) en plus de promouvoir des activités EHS proactives et préventives en observant, analysant et encourageant des comportements de travail sécuritaires et en corrigeant les conditions dangereuses.
  • Aide à la création et à la révision des procédures de verrouillage/étiquetage (LOTO).
  • Aide à évaluer les programmes et à instruire les employés sur les questions relatives à la santé au travail, à la prévention des accidents, à l'utilisation sécuritaire de l'équipement et à la manipulation/nettoyage approprié des produits chimiques et des matières dangereuses.
  • S'assure que les employés obtiennent et reçoivent la formation requise en matière de sécurité.
  • Lisez et suivez le code de conduite d'UL Solutions et suivez toutes les pratiques de sécurité physique et numérique.
  • Effectue d'autres tâches selon les directives.
Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal EHS laws, regulations and standards.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is a nice to have, but must be fluent in English.
  • Resume submitted must be in English.
  • Diplôme universitaire en sécurité et santé au travail, hygiène industrielle, chimie, physique, biologie ou génie chimique, environnemental, mécanique ou dans un domaine étroitement connexe.
  • Un minimum de 4 années d'expérience directement connexe.
  • Connaissance des lois, réglementations et normes EHS provinciales et fédérales.
  • Bilingue (anglais et français) est un atout, mais doit parler couramment l'anglais.
