The Stoney Creek, Ontario office is looking for an organized, proactive, and effective Site Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to supports its project site in St. Catharines, Ontario for an approximate duration of 12 months.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Area Manager and the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Site Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the companies health and safety policies and programs, while ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites and facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and oversee the site safety program.
- Liaise with management and employees to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained.
- Provide counsel and advisement to Company management on all H&S related matters.
- Coordinate and attend on-site health and safety meetings.
- Provide site health and safety training and orientation to employees.
- Administer and facilitate WHMIS training.
- May chair or co-chair the Health & Safety Committee.
- Thoroughly investigate lost time accidents/incidents and health and safety related complaints.
- Complete WSIB forms and oversee light duty return to work programs.
- Generate H&S statistics and provide regular reports in a prescribed format to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
- Perform weekly site inspections and monthly safety audits.
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks.
- Maintain safety records and documents.
- Maintain records of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations.
- Ensure management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business.
- Work with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs.
- Maintain a zero tolerance approach on job safety infractions.
KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is preferred.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
- CSAO certification by the Province of Ontario.
- Certified H&S trainer.
- Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations.
- Current CPR and First Aid training certification.
- WHMIS, Fall Protection/Arrest, Lock out, Confined Space, TDG training.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 5-10 years' working experience in a direct Safety Supervisory role.
- Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety.
- Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs.
- Demonstrated experience in working with WSIB adjudicators.
- Strong communication skills (Written and Verbal).
