Position Summary:

Reporting to the Divisional Controller, the Assistant Divisional Controller, Agribusiness serves as the second-in-command or the primary deputy for financial reporting, planning, analysis, and control activities within Agribusiness. In this strategic role, they are required to forge strong partnerships with key business leaders to oversee financial operations and gain insight into key objectives and challenges. The individual is responsible for providing guidance to ensure effective financial management and optimize financial performance. Through proactive leadership, the Assistant Divisional Controller drives the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems while also spearheading team development initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

Conduct analysis of financial data, variances, trends, and performance metrics to determine and present insights and recommendations to senior management. Provide support for capital requests, business cases, and special projects. Build and maintain financial models. Prepare fully integrated financial statements. Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Lead aspects of the budgeting and forecasting processes. Work closely with the business to develop plans and explain variances. Manage template preparation and execution. Gather data and compile information into a consolidated summary.
Oversee the integrity of the accounting processes and systems to ensure financial transactions are timely, accurate, complete and in compliance with accounting principles, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard assets.
Manage the production of various daily/monthly/annual financial reports that support the decision making of business leaders or are required to meet external compliance requirements. Develop and implement new KPIs and financial reports that guide improved financial performance and align with organizational objectives.
Collaborate across functional groups to drive efficiencies through process improvement and financial system enhancements. Leverage technology for automation opportunities and assist with building a self-serve reporting solution.
Coordinate and support the professional and timely completion of external audits, including submission of audit deliverables and responding to auditor inquiries.
Supervise and mentor finance team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture within the finance department.

Required Qualifications:

University degree in accounting, finance or business and a professional accounting designation or equivalent (CPA).
10 years of accounting/finance experience in medium to large organizations with progressively more challenging roles and responsibilities. 3-5 years of relevant experience as a people / project leader would be an asset.
Knowledge of petroleum or agriculture industry. Thorough experience with Canadian ASPE and/or IFRS.
Comprehensive understanding of ERP system (SAP/D365) and relationship through reporting infrastructure (Power BI). Advanced experience with MS-Office.
Strong financial analysis skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools. Focus on quality and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Self-motivated and results oriented with proven ability to work with limited supervision, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
