Applications are invited for the position of Full-Time Professor, Justice Studies in the School of Justice and Fitness Studies located at the Welland Campus.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Justice and Fitness Studies, this exciting role requires the successful candidate to provide an invitational learning environment to deliver courses in the Protection, Security and Investigation/Police Foundations/Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations (PSI/PF/ALEI) programs, with specific focus relating to the Police Foundations and Advanced Law Enforcement Programs stream.

The Professor position is responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. This includes designing, revising, and updating courses/curriculum; teaching assigned courses; consulting with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners); defining course objectives and evaluating student comprehension of objectives; utilize a variety of instruction medium /resources; and provide individualized instruction where necessary. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Education/Designation/Certifications: Three (3) year undergraduate degree in a related subject

Required Knowledge and Experience: A minimum of five (5) years practical work experience in an Ontario Police forceDemonstrated networking skills with a variety of stakeholders within the field of expertise including Law Enforcement, Corrections andSecurity professionals and other related career paths.Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, problem solving and analytical skillsEvidence of commitment to student success and academic excellenceProven ability to work in a team environment and to foster / support the same with their students and colleaguesDemonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations

Preferred candidates may also possess: A Master's degree in Education or a related subjectTwo (2) years experience in post secondary teaching and/or training and development units related to this fieldJoint-Force Project experienceProven understanding of curriculum design, development delivery and evaluationPractical experience with online learning software and educational database applications asset.

In accordance with the provisions of the Academic Employees Collective Agreement first consideration shall be given to Internal employees. Internal employees are classified as Full time permanent or Partial Load staff within the Academic Bargaining Unit at the time of posting. In addition, those individuals who have been Partial Load staff within four months prior to the posting shall also be considered eligible to apply as internal candidates.
