A little bit about the role:

The Paralegal will join ORBCOMM to support contracts review and negotiations, corporate governance, compliance and litigation matters, as well as other corporate initiatives. The successful candidate will be a team player with a “can do” attitude who is willing to learn about and support all areas within the ORBCOMM Legal Department. The Paralegal will be responsive in a fast-paced environment and will be a problem solver willing to help and provide support wherever needed. This position reports to the General Counsel and will support the greater Legal Department. We are looking for a team member capable of successfully supporting and executing on Legal Department initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and reviewing NDAs and sales and vendor contracts and amendments, as well as corresponding regarding contract matters and coordinating distribution of documents.
  • Creating issues summaries to assist with the negotiation of contracts.
  • Coordinating internal signature processes for contracts and corporate documents.
  • Ad hoc legal research as needed on corporate topics and organization of research files and memoranda.
  • Assisting with the engagement and management of external legal counsel.
  • Filing legal matters and data/records management, including litigation holds and privacy data requests, including DSARs, etc.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Paralegal certification is not required, but a plus.
  • Attention to detail and extensive proofreading experience.
  • Excellent MS Word and data management skills.
  • Familiarity with drafting aspects of technology contracts, amendments and statements of work (including detailed commercial exhibits and provisions).
  • Previous work experience with a technology company, or with a law firm department providing technology law services and corporate governance support is desirable.
