Our MP office is looking for a full-time employee to assist with communications and digital media

management.

Location: Scarborough (in person)

Description: The Communications Assistant will be responsible for:

Designing and drafting communications products (print and online), including ads, event posters, householders and mailers, greeting scrolls, email updates, pamphlets, and digital media graphics
Daily management and writing on various social media channels (including WeChat)
Assisting with preparation of speeches, member statements, and key messages for events
Drafting key correspondence and press releases
Researching policy in preparation of communication items
Co-ordinating events, including press conferences and events in Scarborough—Agincourt or Ottawa
Monitoring media coverage both national and local
Staffing at events (including evenings and weekends)
Assisting with the Constituency Youth Council and Coffee Chats attending monthly Saturday meetings for each event
Other duties as required, including day-to-day operations and special projects
Assist in committee work preparation
Provide backup managing the MP email account

Qualifications and Skills:

Relevant post-secondary education
Must have valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Competence with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with digital media and graphic design software (Publisher, Canva)
Well organized and able to meet tight deadlines
Able to adapt quickly to changing environments
Sound political judgment, tact, and diplomacy
Proficiency in French is an asset, but not required

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
