Our established client in the construction supply industry is seeking a Purchasing Agent in Ottawa. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the timely and efficient procurement of masonry supplies and materials for projects.

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers competitive compensation, 3-weeks' vacation, health and dental benefits, and more

This is a fully on-site position.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with sales and purchasing teams to identify material requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of purchase orders, delivery dates, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any arising issues.
  • Regularly monitor supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance procurement processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements related to purchasing and inventory management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar procurement role within the construction supply industry.
  • Knowledge of masonry materials and industry-specific purchasing practices is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using purchasing software and other relevant tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and supply chain principles.
