Are you a dedicated Registered Practical Nurse looking for an active approach to providing exceptional client care? Full time, One Year Contract
Monday - Friday business hours
Hybrid Role: Hamilton, ON office location + Travel to client homes in the local community
The Occupational Health Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for managing employee illness/ injury related absences and supporting return to work processes. This role will work closely with the Manager to develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate occupational health program initiatives and lead health promotion and wellness activities.
Supports Health and Safety, Client Services and Human Resources with the return-to-work process following work-place illness/injury, as needed
• Implement policies, procedures, and processes to meet national and provincial standards and support the overall Occupational Health program
• Lead initiatives to mitigate organizational and employee risk related to occupational/non-work-related illness/injury absences, return to work and medical accommodation
• Support management of the process regarding confidential employee health records, ensuring compliance to legislative guidelines and best practice standards
• Perform risk assessments and provide appropriate intervention and reporting
• Support employees on medical leave and ensure appropriate medical documentation is received in a timely manner and as per the policy
• Collaborate with leadership to manage requests for medical accommodation
• Support employees on Long Term Disability and liaise with Insurance Carrier promoting early, and safe return to work initiatives.
• Provides first aid for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Offering health teaching/coaching, including designing and presenting health promotion materials
• Provide wellness services such as administering flu shot clinics and presenting health promotion materials

Drivers License and reliable vehicle is required, due to the traveling component
• Current registration with an Ontario Regulated Health Professional College required
• Certificate or diploma in Occupational Health
• A minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Occupational Health
• CPR and/or GPA trainer certification considered an asset
• Comprehensive, working knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines – Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, Public
Hospitals Act, Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols for Ontario Hospitals MOHLTC, PIDAC Best Practices
• Communicable Disease surveillance, immunization protocols and exposure management knowledge and experience
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in disability case management, absence management including STD, LTD and WSIB case management
• Strong assessment, health teaching/promotion skills
• Working knowledge of occupational wellness, ergonomics and safety
• Ability to effectively manage high-risk situations
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office programs, Parklane software knowledge considered an asset
