As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies. You will lead a team in delivering best in class customer service and accurate and timely payroll output. You will be willing and able to step into payroll processing functions when needed. This role reports to the Payroll Director and will have one or more direct reports.
Manage the payroll processing function including, reviewing and revising payroll processes and procedures to improve efficiency and service, as well as internal controls.
Provide direction and guidance to payroll team to ensure all payroll activities are compliant with applicable federal & provincial regulations, GIP policies and collective agreements.
Act as a subject matter expert on payroll related activities, payroll taxation and taxable benefits.
Conduct quality control and process reviews and perform audits to ensure proper controls are in place for accuracy and completeness of payroll functions.
Deliver exceptional customer service while partnering with HR and Operations and act as the main point of escalation for Payroll related inquiries.
Monitor and test system integrations between JDE, Workday and the time and attendance software. Run regular review reports to identify and correct common data issues.
Apply effective planning, organizational and problem-solving skills to anticipate and proactively manage payroll issues.
Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation.
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Well versed in payroll processes, including payroll tax and legal and regulatory requirements, that support your ability to teach and do.
