About Us

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan’s correctional systems and facilities and providing guidance and support to Saskatchewan’s municipal police service.

The Custody Services Division is responsible for the implementation and operation of adult and youth offender services in Saskatchewan as defined by The Correctional Services Act, 2012 and the Youth Criminal Justice Act . These services include assistance to the courts in their pre-trial or pre-sentence decision making; the provision of a range of custody, supervision and program services for persons sentenced or remanded by the courts; and the development and provision of a wide range of other correctional programs and services that promote safe and secure communities.

The Opportunity

The Custody Services Division is seeking a permanent full time Deputy Director of Administration at the Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre (WPTC). WPTC is a reduced custody facility located thirteen kilometers west of Yorkton, SK which focuses on vocational training and employment for approximately 39 male offenders. 

Reporting to the Director of WPTC, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Fiscal management including budgeting and forecast principles and practices;
  • Managing administrative support services and food services;
  • Purchasing and procurement practices;
  • Program development, strategic planning, and government decision making processes;
  • Computer systems and practices to respond to technical requirements, including hardware and software;
  • Human resources management practices and principles, including strategies to build, support and maintain a diverse workforce; and
  • Ensure adequate financial safeguards related to inmate and collective trust accounts.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has:

  • Proven leadership experience in a management role;

  • Experience promoting employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.

The successful candidate will typically possess a university degree in business administration or a combination of education and experience with accounting, business management, information/technology systems, budget management, human resources, and leadership.
