POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Category Manager (Finance, Insurance, Education, Business and Technology) is a dynamic marketing leader who transforms industry insights into creative advertising solutions to boost revenue growth with a strong focus on the Finance category.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Digital Ad Innovation and Category Management, collaborating seamlessly with various departments across the organization, including Editorial, Custom Content, Ad Tech, Creative Services, Sales, Media Strategy, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Events. As the Category Manager, you will conduct in-depth analyses of the Finance, Insurance, Education, Business and Technology industries, delivering valuable insights to the Sales division for an improved client understanding and enhanced outcomes. Proactively leveraging The Globe's proprietary and third-party advertising products, you will be dedicated to developing strategic solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of clients, ultimately driving the growth of advertising revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively formulate marketing insights and innovative advertising solutions.
  • Analyze evolving consumer trends and business challenges/opportunities within specific categories, effectively communicating these insights to the sales division.
  • Craft compelling presentations leveraging The Globe’s products to captivate clients and enhance revenue generation.
  • Oversee category products, including Report on Business Magazine and Globe Advisor, ensuring comprehensive reporting.
  • Develop analytical frameworks supporting Sales in identifying new business prospects, utilizing both internal and external research.
  • Conduct thorough competitive analysis to articulate strategic advantages to advertising clients.
  • Cultivate an in-depth understanding of all advertising services to drive revenue within designated categories.
  • Collaborate on sales strategies for top-priority client accounts within respective categories.
  • Create comprehensive category playbooks and quarterly strategy plans, providing essential guidance to the sales division.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team in bi-monthly category huddles to pinpoint emerging product opportunities.
  • Regularly engage with editorial teams to gain insights on available category integration opportunities.
  • Provide the sales team with up-to-date competitive analysis, trends, and category-specific insights.
  • Assist in crafting compelling responses to RFPs, develop client-facing tools, and maintain a repository of sales-related resources.
  • Ensure the internal sales portal is consistently updated with opportunities and relevant information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years of category/product marketing experience. Preferably in the Finance sector.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, sales, or media
  • Proven track record of converting analysis into insights and developing engaging product presentations.
  • Experience independently driving and managing complex projects.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
