This role is responsible for ensuring the best product, price & placement in the retail cannabis space, including promotional planning, forecasting, assortment planning, competitive analysis and delivering to KPI targets.Additionally, this position will be a part of a best-in-class Merchandising team known for pioneering the retail cannabis space in Canada and contribute to other merchandising-related tasks as needed.Competencies and RequirementsProven success working collaboratively with others, both internally and externallyProven success in exceeding KPI targets in retail category managementStrong analytical, process & organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to think strategically and tacticallyAn eye for upcoming consumer trends and a proven ability to meet those trends.Effective negotiation skillsDemonstrated ability to innovate & operate with varying levels of uncertaintyPassionate & enthusiastic about retailKnowledge of cannabis & accessory products is an assetEssential Duties and Responsibilities Deliver to Sales & Net margin targets by category and provinceDrive and deliver Market Share targetsManage vendor relationshipsNegotiate and deliver compelling and relevant national / provincial promotions during key times to drive sales and GPNegotiate regular promotions through vendor partnerships as well as margin-accretive allowances that adhere to the company’s strategic prioritiesPromotional Planning, including Spark loyalty and other measures to drive traffic, customer engagement and loyaltyAssortment planning for cannabis including purchasing & pricing decisionsSet assortment and pricing strategy by province, banner and category including sales by categoryDetermine appropriate sku count by category / sub-category and store type (MSC)Identify and leverage market and consumer trendsEnsure relevant and compelling assortments to service our customersSuggest and influence inventory targets by category, province and shopIncorporate shop feedback and communicate with OperationsCommunicate regularly to relevant cross-functional departmentsOpen to Buy Targets, forecasting and forecast accuracyShop TransfersProduct Lifecycle Management - Markdowns / Aged InventoryCompetitive analysisEducation, Training and ExperienceUniversity degree & at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in retail category managementStrong Microsoft Excel SkillsProven success in retail category management & exceeding KPI targetsProvincial Cannabis CertificationThe FIKA Company respects the diversity of the people it hires and serves.
