The Manager of Construction & Redevelopment will have authority and accountabilities related to the planning, management, and implementation of Redevelopment Projects, which vary in scale and complexity. The role will require a skill set which is rooted in project management fundamentals and professional ethics ad standards.
Monday to Friday – 37.The Redevelopment Projects include the new Development of Uxbridge Hospital site as well as major renovations.
The successful candidate will lead effective construction and renovation planning and ensure that the goals and objectives of the department and services are achieved in alignment with the hospitals master plan.
This includes development and implementation of the full scope of service including procurement, efficient design, space utilization, planning and construction, and operational readiness
Degree in Architecture, Engineering (preferably civil or structural), Urban Planning, Facility Management, or Construction Management. 10-15 years of related experience in construction and redevelopment at a major hospital or a healthcare related project.
~ Minimum 7-10 years leadership experience at the department level including managing staff and contractors
~ Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project, Excel, AutoCAD and reading blue prints)
~ Experience planning for major projects ($100 to $200 million) including programming, concept development, implementation and construction
~ Experience in managing external consulting teams, contractors and other vendor
~ Experience in managing multiple concurrent project types in various stages of development
~ Knowledge of institutional construction estimating and procurement practices is required and understanding of Alternative Financing and Procurement preferred
~ Understanding of internal and external policies, processes and guidelines (e.g., Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, hospital’s infection prevention and control requirements etc.)
~ Experience in managing Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care staged capital processes, including negotiations, agreements, preparation of submissions and obtaining approvals
~ Knowledge and experience in dealing with Municipal and other government agencies, including as local conservation authorities.
~ Knowledge and training of legislation, codes and policies regarding infection; prevention and controls in healthcare construction and renovations
~ Experience with cost control measures and demonstrated ability to make sound and cost-effective decisions
~ Proven ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and relevant health and safety regulations and building codes along with having
~ Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications, financial reporting software, facility condition software and knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator are preferred assets
~ Sound knowledge of facility management principles with exposure/experience in partnering in construction projects would be an asset
~ Demonstrated experience in reporting to Senior Leadership and Board of Directors
~ Managing team members performance and performing regular performance reviews and following up.
~ Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
~ Demonstrated commitment to building a healthy, welcoming and inclusive work environment including team members mentoring and career development
~ by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
