The Director, Strategy is responsible for driving and overseeing the execution of large scale and complex strategic initiatives within CN, as directed by the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) in collaboration with other senior leadership. The role is part of the Strategy team and interacts across functions at CN, including Operations, Sales and Marketing, Corporate Services, Finance, Human Resources (HR), Sustainability, and Investor Relations. Help define the business’s strategic priorities
· Manage key deliverables, including market analysis financial models, communication of recommendations and execution plans
· Recommend Senior Management on strategic decisions
· Influence Senior Leadership on strategic topics
· Scope work and management of external service vendors
· The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work night shifts and weekends when necessary.
o Experience with a Class 1 railroad*
Minimum 6 years of experience in a management consulting firm with specific railroad experience, strategy experience*
o Progressive management and project management experience
o Experience presenting to an executive audience
Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, or equivalent
· Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
Technical Skills/Knowledge
· Ability to influence across internal and external networks to ensure delivery of value
· Strong executive communication skills in verbal and written English and French*
· Transportation, Network Operations, Sales or Marketing of products, Finance or I&T
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) Teams and associated applications
· Knowledge of financial analysis and business valuation
· Knowledge of Tableau or a similar analytical visualization tool
*Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
