Description:

The role of the Assistant Controller is to supervise the accounting function, lead the month-end account reconciliation and close process, assist the Financial Controller in the financial reporting process, manage vendor bank information, create electronic payments, perform periodic and ad-hoc financial analysis, and contribute to on-going process improvement. The Assistant Controller must also respond to queries from various requesters.

Under the supervision of the Controller, your responsibilities will be :

Responsibilities :

  • Analyze and compile financial information to prepare journal entries
  • Assist in the preparation consolidated and divisional financial statements;
  • Explain variances from budget and previous periods;
  • Reconcile balance sheet & P&L items and prepare monthly adjusting entries;
  • Review bank reconciliations;
  • Prepare variousfinancial analyses and management reports;
  • Follow-up with production teams as necessary;
  • Maintain the accuracy of vendor banking information in the bank portal as well as preparing electronic payments;
  • Supervise and coach Accounting Technicians;
  • Take ownership of the cash collections process;
  • Contribute to on-going process improvement;
  • Keeping the property, plant and equipment table up to date;
  • Prepare year-end file and provide explanations to external auditors;

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
  • CPA designationor in the process of obtaining one is considered an asset;
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar position. Experience in a manufacturing environment or a project-based business is considered an Asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Advanced level Excel ;
  • Experience working with IT systems and SQL databases is considered and asset.
  • Good organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, thoroughness, and respect for the company's various rules and policies ;
  • Ability to workunder pressure and manage priorities;
  • Minutia, precision, analytical skills, autonomy and good intrapersonal skills;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
