Overview: For over 37 years, LAING has provided full building envelope services, including roofing, sheet metal, waterproofing and wall system installations for commercial, industrial and large-scale residential projects throughout Western Canada. LAING is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist in the Okanagan area to provide full-cycle payroll management and limited support to our finance department for our offices in Kelowna & Vernon, BC.

The Payroll Specialist will report to the Financial Controller of the Company and is directly accountable for all functions related to the success of all payroll functions of the Laing team, working alongside the HR team members, superintendents, and senior
Payroll Position Details
Maintain employee records and personnel files as it pertains to payroll
Daily review of electronic timesheets and review of allocation of hours to project costing
Preparation and processing of full-cycle payroll using internal payroll software including entry and documentation of all payroll related employee deductions, all required reconciliations and year-end processes (ROE’s, Vacation Accrual, Year-end roll over, T4s)
Preparation and submission of required CRA payroll remittances, WorkSafe BC, EHT and all other remittances pertaining to payroll.
Overseeing all related payroll correspondence and communication.
This role also supports some elements of our finance department including reconciliation of payroll accounts and other financial processes.

Experience with Microsoft office, Sage Accounting (100 Contractor Version) and cloud-based business applications
3-5 Years’ experience as a full-cycle payroll specialist and some accounting experience
~ Must have payroll certification or equivalent education/ certification, experience will be considered in place of education.
~ Strong understanding of employment standards, payroll standards and regulations in BC
~ General knowledge and experience in the construction industry, an asset but not required
