Job Description:

The Application Development Technical Lead acts as a trusted advisor, responsible for engaging with business and IT users across the College and external clients to define roadmaps and align business vision with scalable architectural solutions. The incumbent works with the College’s clients to define business processes, architecture, implementation and design of solutions. Work includes the entire software development lifecycle, analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of the College’s Enterprise Business Platforms, cloud services and customized applications.

This position is responsible for the design of the technical architecture solution that may span multiple platforms and include integration and authentication across systems.

The incumbent drives the development platform and provides leadership to other development staff to support the integration of systems leading to the sharing of information across all business units.

The incumbent assumes the responsibility of entire projects, developing solutions for complex business applications by exercising the highest level of analytical, design and programming skills. The incumbent will articulate design considerations, trade-offs, benefits, and recommendations for a technical architecture on cloud platforms.

The Application Development Technical Lead also assigns work to other team members and provides technical guidance and leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent;

  • Certified Azure Developer Associate or Certified Azure Administrator Associate is required;

  • Certified ScrumMaster is required;

  • Minimum eight (8) years experience as follows:

    • Previous experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction

    • Experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to) .NET Framework, SQL Server, JavaScript, Azure PowerShell, Azure DevOps (CI/CD), and authentication protocols

    • Experience managing cloud architecture and services using a leading cloud provider such as Microsoft Azure

    • Gathering and analysing business requirements to develop technical specifications, integrations and solutions

    • Proposing design and integration solutions for complex business requirements

    • Experience building resilient, scalable services, and have an appreciation for concepts like SLA, and fault tolerance

    • Development of API, Web Services, Service Bus/Layer development

    • Web and native application design, coding in C#, testing, and maintaining software updates and projects

    • Integrating enterprise SASS applications with in house software solutions

    • Addressing issues and defects identified by testers and clients

    • Object-oriented software design and implementation

    • Agile software development (SCRUM)

    • Participation in knowledge sharing and providing mentorship

    • Understanding of best practices and design trade-offs, with the ability to communicate design choices

    • Strong verbal and writing skills to develop and document business requirements and technical documentation.
