Working closely as a key member of the Communications & Engagement team, this temporary, full-time position of 12-18 months duration leads communications and public engagement initiatives and the planning, development, design, and production of a variety of visual tools, publications, advertisements, and signage.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategic plans for communications and public engagement initiatives
Review, write, edit and produce communications and public engagement materials
Build and maintain online public engagement project pages and tools using the Bang the Table platform
Design and book public hearing advertisements
Design development application signage
Design bulletins andinformation sheets
Review customer service processes, procedures, and forms

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communications (or a related field) plus a minimum of three years of job-related experience
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Attention to detail, fact-checking and proof-reading abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sound judgement and independent decision-making skills
Knowledge of communications and public engagement principles, best practices, and related technology is an asset
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the City and with external contacts.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, plus strong MS Office skills (creating Word templates and PowerPoint presentations)
Working knowledge of professional printing techniques and standards
