One of our manufacturing clients is looking for a Buyer in Vaughan, ON for their facility.
Source, select, and negotiate contracts with suppliers for materials, components, and services required for automotive manufacturing, ensuring favorable terms, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry developments to identify potential suppliers, assess risks, and capitalize on opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to understand procurement requirements and specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
Manage supplier relationships, including conducting regular supplier evaluations, addressing performance issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain quality, delivery schedules, and cost targets.
Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and mitigate supply chain risks.
Monitor inventory levels, production schedules, and demand forecasts to optimize inventory management and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and components, resolving any transportation or delivery issues that may arise.
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, supplier performance, lead times, and inventory turnover, providing regular reports and insights to management.
Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting the automotive supply chain, incorporating relevant insights into procurement strategies and decisions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the procurement team, sharing best practices, mentoring junior staff, and actively contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.
Possession of a post-secondary education in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
Accumulation of 4+ years of pertinent work experience within a procurement setting as a buyer.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related field; Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and materials.
