Beginning in Spring 2024, The YMCA will operate the Child Care Resource & Referral (CCRR) program for communities across the Central Okanagan. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community and Employment Services, the Community Services Manager will oversee programs that provide information, support, resources and referral services to families, child care professionals, and child care providers through the delivery of the CCRR program. The goal of the CCRR program is to enhance the availability and quality of a range of child care options for families.

  • To provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of CCRR services to Central Okanagan
  • To ensure all Provincial Program Standards, YMCA Policies and Procedures, and legal requirements, are met
  • To track program results, complete and submit progress reports, and complete program evaluations
  • Monitor overall program budgets for YMCA CCRR Program and other programs as required
  • To work in partnership and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders including YMCA staff and volunteers, child care providers, community agencies, and public partners
  • To coach, develop and support staff to achieve excellence in service orientation
  • To participate in the hiring, orientation, and performance development of all direct reports
  • To assist in the hiring, orientation, and performance development of other staff as required
  • To provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of family resource programs
  • To perform other related duties as required and be flexible to a changing work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

We’d love to hear with people with:
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field (e.g. Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Child and Youth)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with children and families in childcare programs
  • Minimum 5 years direct management and supervisory experience leading staff in a childcare, family, or community program setting.
  • Experience with developing community based programming and working in collaboration with other community agencies and service providers
  • Strong business writing skills, including experience with reporting and business plans
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively in a fast paced changing environment
  • Administrative experience, background in customer service, computers and general office procedures
  • Current First Aid certificate and Criminal Record Check required
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and a flexible schedule, as required
  • Vehicle required

Compensation:
  • Starting wage of $26.92-$30.89, dependent on experience
  • Membership for self and family to YMCA facilities
  • Paid vacation, wellness days, and family responsibility time
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Annual Y pension of 5% (after 2 years)
