Children's Services Supervisor - Temporary Full-Time
The Childcare Department has an opening for one (1) temporary full-time Child Care Supervisor. This is a non-unionized position reporting to the Early Years and Childcare Manager. This position is responsible to ensure the effective and efficient supervision, administration and financial management of child care assistance programs and services to families in Hastings County.
Audit client subsidy files monthly to ensure accuracy and compliance with Ministry policies.
•Create job aids/training manuals for staff, students, and Child Care providers.
•Maintain a current understanding of all relevant child care policy and legislation.
•Collaborate on the planning, development, and local implementation of the CWELCC system, in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and provincial guidelines.
•Update and maintain internal policies/procedures, service agreements, and letters/forms as new information is released from the Ministry of Education regarding Subsidy/CWELCC.
•Maintain all aspects of the Ontario Child Care Management System (OCCMS) including internal and external applications.
•Prepare and carry out all aspects of testing and interviewing possible candidates for various Children’s Services positions.
•Liaise with the Ministry of Education, vendors, service providers, community agencies, other County departments, other service delivery agents, provincial and community partners to maintain a current understanding of Early Years and Child Care needs, issues, best practices, and all relevant child care policy and legislation; as well as to ensure that the clients, staff and service providers needs are effectively met.
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Children’s Services unit.
•Lead, supervise, and coordinate staff and provide technical and professional advice/support to staff and Child Care operators. Responsible for performance management and onboarding of staff with training and system processes and guidelines.
•Participate as a Hastings County representative on various local and provincial networks.
• Liaison with Service providers, Ministry of Education, provincial, other municipalities, and community partners to understand Early Years and Child Care needs, issues, and exchange information and best practices.
•Review, verify and approve monthly fee subsidy/CWELCC invoices from Child Care operators for payment. Reconciliation of funding allocations to service providers; confirming service provider funding advance balances as requested.
•Prepare journal entries for monthly reconciliation.
Protect own health and the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately. Two-year College diploma in Human Services field.
•Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Childcare & Earlyon Child and Family Centres Service Management & Funding Guidelines, and the Child Care and Early Years Act.
•Thorough working knowledge of Child Care in Ontario, Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care program and local community resources.
•Working knowledge of the Child Care Management System (OCCMS) and MS office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
•Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding and ever changing work environment requires solid organizational and time management skills.
•Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. Occasional overtime may be required for project completion.
