Work Shift:
The Quality Inspector will inspect materials when received and/or in the production process, and ensure they meet specifications. They will report non-conformances, backtrack all products/inventory to establish clean points, fix non-conformances (where possible) and re-train employees on proper processes. The Quality Inspector will report to the Quality Manager and work with other areas of the Production department and throughout the organization.
 
Inspect and approve incoming materials, in-process production, and outgoing finished product by reviewing specifications, reading blueprints, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting/returning unacceptable materials by following the ELS/DT quality process.
Identify and document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into the quality database.
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with safety and legal regulations.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Document and place parts or finished product in inventory that pass inspection.
Support the Quality Manager in the preparation and modification of test plans to meet the quality mission
Communicate non-conformances to the Quality Manager, as well as leaders in Production and Purchasing. Support the Quality Manager in preparing vendor quality ratings with Purchasing team.
Provide suggestions for continuous improvements to the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
Supports other DT assembly departments.
Work in conjunction with all the organization’s policies and procedures and complete work as assigned to the best of your abilities.
Degree or Diploma in related field preferred. Knowledge of ISO 9000 or Z299 quality environments, an asset.
~ Required to maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a drivers abstract related to company insurance for the use of any company.
~2+ years’ experience in a quality inspector/assurance position.
~ Knowledge of fabrication, machining processes, and a Six Sigma manufacturing environment, an asset.
~ Prior experience using ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV), an asset.
~ Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently meeting the requirements of timely deadlines.
Demonstrates previous experience building exceptional relationships utilizing excellent communication, listening and negotiation techniques.
Encourages and incorporates diverse and creative initiatives and perspectives.
Works in office and manufacturing facility with flexibility for travel to off-site meetings
May be required to work some overtime hours to attend meetings or meet organizational needs
Ability to move around factory workstations, and lift 25 to 50 pounds, walking and stairs
Sitting, working at desk/personal computer for extended periods
