ABOUT THE ROLE Garden River First Nation (GRFN) is seeking a Land Code & Claim Coordinator to coordinate and advance Land Code implementation and Land Claim projects. The coordinator will support forestry-related initiatives, community engagement, and data analysis to strengthen the nation's land management system. This role helps build awareness of GRFN's land rights, fosters collaboration, and identifies opportunities for sustainable development and community benefit. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Ø Coordinate implementation of the Land Code and related claims projects. Ø Track, assess, and report on forestry and land claim activities. Ø Assist in preparing budgets, funding proposals, and progress reports. Ø Support the Land Code Committee with agendas, minutes, and community updates. Ø Organize community engagement sessions, mail-outs, and workshops. Ø Manage revisions to Land Code documents and maintain compliance with ratification requirements. Ø Collaborate with the Verifier and ensure all materials meet regulatory standards. Ø Provide recommendations based on data analysis and community input. Ø Assist Lands & Resources staff with related projects and initiatives. Ø Stay current on land management policies, bylaws, and best practices. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Ø Diploma in Business Administration, Political Science, History, or related field. Ø Minimum 2 years' experience in a related role (land management, claims, or coordination). Ø Knowledge of forestry regulations, the Indian Lands Registry, and land management systems. Ø Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ø Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and report preparation. Ø Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ø Knowledge of First Nation culture, values, and traditions. Ø Valid Class G driver's license and ability to travel. Ø Must undergo a criminal record check before employment.
