Northstar is currently looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team.

Our Accountant will hold a broad range of bookkeeping responsibilities including full cycle accounting within the construction industry.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Through financial and business analysis drive better, faster decisions, EBITDA improvement, and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support finance-related initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance department.
  • Maintain capital asset, capital lease, prepaid, and accrued liabilities schedules.
  • Prepare monthly government remittances.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Supporting monthly and yearly inventory counts.
  • Supporting the year-end audit.
  • General accounting duties.
  • Other ad-hoc analysis and office administration as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Highschool diploma, post secondary education in Accounting/ Bookkeeping preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • Experience with full cycle accounting
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze business process and maintain internal controls
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate with team members up and down the organization
  • Team player
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
