Tax Senior Accountant

Please Note: This position is a combination of working every week, in our Uxbridge office and from home.
We are seeking a full-time Senior Tax Preparer/Accountant who has extensive, strong, experience working in a busy accounting firm . This is a non-audit firm focusing on bookkeeping, tax planning, and tax preparation for individuals, small businesses, and corporations.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality client experience and have our clients pay the least amount of taxes in the most efficient and profitable manner. We are looking for someone with strong technical tax skills and strong tax preparation skills, that will have a keen interest in our clients and their associated taxation.
Your personality is laid-back enough to roll with what comes your way but are energetic when working on projects and tasks. As a Senior Tax Accountant, your responsibilities will include the following:
Preparation and/or review of Personal and possibly Corporate Tax Returns, Tax Elections, and reporting of various transactions of our varied client base
Identify, develop and implement strategies for clients to capitalize on business and tax opportunities;
Compilation of financial statements and various other accounting assignments;
Researching tax issues, efficiently and quickly, to apply appropriate tax elections and/or the tax treatment of specified transactions including preparing memorandum or client letters;
Providing general client support and services, and interacting with clients with regard to their tax and other information requests; Your required soft skills, which are just as important as your technical skills:
· Have a good knowledge of the cause and effect of life changes and financial transactions as they relate to taxes;
· Can identify and communicate issues and offer recommended solutions relevant to business and risk;
· Outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong focus on quality client service; Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Your required technical skills include:
Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation including, but not limited to personal, trust, and HST tax compliance and planning.
Extensive experience in the application of tax legislation.
Strong software/technical skills including the ability to take on/learn new software.
Some of the specific software we use:
Office 365
Minimum of five years of hands-on Canadian tax preparation experience
· Experience working in a public practice Accounting Firm
Experience doing a large number of tax returns during busy tax season
· You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work.
