Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our Industrial and Infrastructure Business line in the Burnaby office.
Prepare structural engineering designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards
Perform analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures and concrete foundations for new infrastructure projects and for seismic upgrade projects
Perform site visits, inspections, and preparation of reports relating to existing and new structures
Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions
Prepare specifications, design criteria, and material take-off for projects
Complete tasks ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met
Be able to work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages
Supervise the work of other engineers on the project team.
Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly.
Bachelor’s degree in Structural engineering from a recognized University. (Master’s degree would be considered an asset)
Registration within another Province or internationally (PE) would be considered an asset
12+ years’ experience in a structural design environment, including 10 years’ experience in seismic upgrade projects
Thorough understanding of the design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
Proficiency in structural engineering analysis and design software such as SFRAME, ETABS or SAP2000.
Expertise in non-linear time history analysis would be considered an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal English
E xperienced in dealing with clients and contractors directly.
