Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate will have a combination of roles including Portfolio Management for a key local client, leadership and mentorship to a team of junior and intermediate engineers and technical input to projects from planning to implementation and typical tasks include: The Senior Structural Engineer is a full-time position based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

  1. Lead team(s) in the design of industrial structures
  2. Prepare, supervise, and provide technical mentorship on analysis, modeling, reports, design and drawings for structural engineering design
  3. Develop work plans and budgets
  4. Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals
  5. Mentor/direct junior staff and review work product
  6. Control project budgets / schedules
  7. Prepare detailed analysis, design, and project deliverables including drawings, specifications, and reports
  8. Lead field inspections of major equipment items
  9. Support larger projects including:
    1. Provide detailed analysis and design
    2. Demonstrate Inter-discipline coordination
    3. Assist with project reporting
  10. Travel as required for various field programs

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering (a master’s degree is preferred)

15 years of design experience in industrial structures

Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia

Design experience in steel and concrete structures including trusses, bridges, and supports

Experience with design and inspection of industrial equipment including conveyors, transfer towers, shiploaders is an advantage

Experience with seismic design, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office is preferred

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal)
