Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director, the Chief Estimator will be involved in leading the bids for exciting $100M+ heavy civil infrastructure projects in Western Canada. The successful applicant will have a comprehensive understanding of various civil construction involving bridges, concrete structures, highways, earthworks and tunnels - having held historical positions as Estimator, Project manager or Project Engineer - and has ideally led a multidisciplinary team as Chief Estimator to deliver estimates of one of more bid tenders at one time.

This role will be based in Vancouver, BC with expectations of some time spent following projects in the field as part of the estimation journey. If residing outside of Vancouver, relocation assistance is available for the successful applicant.

What You Will Be Doing Responsible for the leadership, management, mentorship and training of estimating team
Collaborate with Senior Operations, Pre-Construction, and Proposal teams
Review of project site prior to price preparation
Prepares and/or reviews project budgets at estimating close-out to operations so cost reporting is impactful for future estimating needs
Obtains pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, compiling information into estimate
Oversees the appropriate distribution of documentation upon award of project
Performs a Post Bid / Post Project Analysis completion and that associated learning takes place
Assists with RFP’s and General Contract tender submissions
Incorporates / complies with company’s risk management policies and processes
Maintains Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date
What Skills & Experience You Must Have Minimum 10 years of experience completing estimates for large civil construction projects, with at least 5 years as Chief Estimator
Extensive experience in heavy civil infrastructure
Demonstrated computer software proficiency - MS Excel / Word
Experience with estimating software is considered an asset
Highly-detailed with proven planning and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines
