ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST

Location:

  • Head Office: 25 Sims Crescent, Unit 1, Richmond Hill ON L4B 1C9 | Hybrid role.
Responsibilities
  • Set up new customers in the system and updating existing customers’ information.
  • Create credit notes from the system and arrange for approval as per approval policy.
  • Processing and posting customer credits related to rebates, allowances, freight, unloading, and other credits.
  • Cash application of processing and posting into the system for all customer receipts (EFTs, Wires, ACHs, and Cheques) in a timely manner.
  • Handles customer inquiries and disputes.
  • Coordinating follow-ups on aged receivables for collection with customers.
  • Perform customer account clean up tasks such as write offs of small amounts, and bad debt.
  • Manage AR comparative report weekly for review with Accounting Manager and Controller.
  • Reconcile A/R Aging report with the general ledger every month end.
  • Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations as outlined by Accounting Manager.
  • Learns and understands the customer rebate programs.
  • Ad-Hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completed advanced diploma in accounting; graduated with a BA degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of accounting or related field experience (experience in manufacturing or CPG environment considered an asset).
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to comprehend and articulate accounting issues from non-accounting/cross-functional teams and be able to recommend pragmatic solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook. (Minimum intermediary skills in Excel required).
  • Knowledge of accounting software an asset (experience with Microsoft Dynamics - JustFoods would be considered an asset).
  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy and self-motivation – who takes direction well but has a clear understanding of how to organize the day-to-day functions, asks questions and engages in self-directed learning to tackle new tasks.
  • Can multi-task with confidence and ease.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced office environment with a Can-Do attitude.
  • Willing to work Monday to Friday in traditional office hours and infrequently work beyond these parameters to meet mission critical deadlines.
