Post Doctoral Fellow, Synthetic Chemistry and Radiochemistry Post Doctoral Fellow, Synthetic Chemistry and Radiochemistry

Primary Purpose: The Price Research Group (Prof. Eric Price, at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) in collaboration with the Geyer Group (Prof. Ron Geyer, are looking to recruit a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow or research associate to work on an exciting new radiochemistry project. This project aims to explore innovative strategies for delivery of radionuclides and drugs to tumours for improved treatment of a variety of cancers.

Nature of Work:
This project will encompass the synthesis of novel chelators/linkers, followed by bioconjugation reactions with proteins, antibodies, and nanovesicles. The project might also involve some solid phase peptide synthesis. As bioconjugates, these molecules will be radiolabeled with various radiometals and then evaluated in vitro/in vivo. Bioconjugates will be studied with both imaging radionuclides and therapeutic radionuclides for a theranostic approach. Although this position will be focused on synthetic chemistry, radiochemistry, and bioconjugation chemistry, the candidate will work closely with the Geyer Lab in an interdisciplinary manner and will be co-mentored by Prof. Geyer. The candidate will also work closely with a biology technician, who is currently being sought for this project (also hiring from October 1 st , 2023). This project is team-based, collaborative, and interdisciplinary.

Accountabilities: The PDF or professional research associate will report directly to Prof. Price but will be co-mentored by Prof. Geyer. The selected candidate will be expected to play a leadership role in the lab, providing training and guidance to junior lab members.

Education: A PhD in Chemistry or a related field, with significant synthetic chemistry experience.

Experience:
The selected candidate should have an established skillset in chemical synthesis. Previous experience in radiochemistry is ideal but not required.

Skills:
The candidate should have the skills and experience necessary to independently complete multi-step synthetic chemistry, perform routine characterization techniques (e.g. NMR, MS, column chromatography, TLC, HPLC), and troubleshoot chemical reactions. Good writing and presentation skills are ideal for scientific communication.
To Apply:
Interested applicants must include the following in their application: cover letter, curriculum vitae, and a publication from their previous research work showcasing their skills relevant to this posting

Department: Chemistry
Status: Term
Employment Group: Post-Doctoral Fellows - PSAC
Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.0
