Parts Procurement Specialist

Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the Provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Parts Procurement Specialist to be located out of our Corporate Office, in Markham, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
In the position of Parts Procurement Specialist . The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identify potential suppliers, evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring best value for money.
- Ensure all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Negotiate terms & conditions, prepare contracts, monitor contractor performance and delivery of services to meet objectives.
- Co-ordinate vendor performance management activities as assigned for new and existing vendors.
- Establish and maintain spare parts inventory and critical parts inventory lists; liaise with all departments to ensure information is updated timely and accurately.
- Create and issue purchase orders and manage change orders with suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, assess supplier capabilities, and identify cost-saving opportunities in the procurement process.
- Working closely with the Purchasing Coordinators at various MWS locations, when required in ordering truck and equipment parts.
- Liaises between various MWS locations and partnered vendor(s) to gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements, establishing short-term and long-term objectives.
- Other duties and projects as determined by the business
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3-years in category management and strategic sourcing or equivalent scope in a similar or related industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (SCMP dedication) is an asset.
- Working knowledge of purchasing fundamentals, MRP, scheduling, and planning
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to secure advantageous deals with suppliers.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement practices and a commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Self-starter who approaches his/her work with a sense of urgency.
