Job Title: Director of Environmental Consulting

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to serve as the Director of Environmental Consulting. The ideal candidate will lead our environmental consulting department, providing strategic direction, managing client relationships, and overseeing project delivery. The Director will play a pivotal role in driving growth, ensuring quality standards, and advancing our environmental consulting services to meet client needs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability within the environmental consulting department.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the consulting team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration.
  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities in environmental consulting and incorporate them into the division's strategic initiatives.
  • Client Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance on environmental compliance, sustainability, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tailored solutions that address their environmental challenges and objectives.
  • Project Oversight:
  • Oversee the execution of environmental consulting projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, resolving complex issues and mitigating risks.
  • Review project deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay abreast of environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines at the local, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and advise clients on strategies for compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies as needed to facilitate permitting, approvals, and regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the environmental consulting market, leveraging existing client relationships and networking opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and bids for potential projects, showcasing the division's capabilities and value proposition.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop marketing materials and strategies to promote environmental consulting services.
  • Team Development:
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of environmental consultants, fostering their professional growth and advancement.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in environmental consulting, with a focus on environmental compliance, permitting, remediation, and sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business plans to drive growth and profitability.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer, Certified Environmental Professional) are desirable.
