The Opportunity:

BluMetric is growing We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to work within the expanding Mining sector. This position is critical to our mining contracts and can be based in Montreal, Quebec or one of our other Ontario office locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Acting as client and regulatory liaison and providing exceptional client management to existing clients.
  • Effectively managing and coordinating a number of concurrent projects, including maintaining project projections, timelines and budget controls.
  • Ensuring high-quality technical work, including field methodology, reporting, and client deliverables, as well as mentoring technical staff.
  • Complying with Health and Safety protocols and supporting BluMetric’s strong safety culture.
  • Managing the entire lifecycle for project portfolios with specific Mining clients, ranging from strategic planning initiatives through project planning, execution, monitoring/controlling and closure.
  • Meeting and communicating with clients and subcontractors, including visits to operating mine sites in remote locations.
  • Developing and implementing regulatory approval strategies.
  • Executing project quality assurance plans and quality control procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A professional designation (P.Eng. or ing.) and membership to OIQ or PEO is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years professional experience in progressively more senior positions.
  • Senior-level of experience as a consultant in the mining industry with prior experience and emphasis on mine water characterization and management studies including mine dewatering design, Front End Loading (FEL) process, project delivery and stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, remediation, soil and groundwater management plans, and other due diligence and operational investigations.
  • Additional experience in planning, design, permitting, construction, operation, and closure of mine surface facilities throughout Canada, with extensive experience at remote northern sites is an asset.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of all stages of mine site remediation, from characterization to the design of reclamation scenarios and the completion of redevelopment and restoration work as well as the development of costs for mine closure (dismantling, park restoration, etc.).
  • Substantial previous experience working for a professional services company with a solid understanding of the support needs of active mining sector clients, specifically within Northern Quebec and Ontario.
  • Experience leading Environmental Assessments and other regulatory approval processes for mining projects of significant size and/or complexity in Canada, preferably in Quebec or Ontario.
  • Strong leadership and business development skills, including significant experience understanding, building and maintaining productive relationships with mining clients.
  • Strong experience liaising with government regulatory agencies at the provincial and federal levels.
  • Prior experience liaising with Indigenous communities in relation to regulatory approvals processes would be an asset.
  • Occasional business travel is required.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
