Manager, Events
Take a Hike empowers youth who experience vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives with a full-time mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom. Take a Hike engages youth with intentional, continuous clinical counselling, experiential land-based learning, and community. Our public school district partners provide high quality education, and together, we empower youth with the skills and resilience they need to graduate high school, build healthy relationships, and achieve success – however they define it.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Philanthropy, Annual Giving and working on the Development team, the Manager, Events is a key contributor to Take a Hike’s Community Giving portfolio. This role is responsible for the success of the events program and helps identify, cultivate, and steward new and existing donors. This includes the planning and execution of internal large and small-scale signature events, donor cultivation and stewardship events, as well as team retreats. The Manager, Events will also focus on building external partnerships with individuals, community groups and corporate companies to support Take a Hike through cause-related marketing opportunities, sponsorships, 3rd party fundraising events and other special projects.

Event Management
· Project manage full-cycle event planning for all Take a Hike philanthropic and donor engagement events including two signature events: Take it Outside Challenge + Homes for the Holidays
· Organize logistics, supplies, resources, or any other needs for day-of event execution
· Manage allocated events budget(s) with support from the Development team
· Manage volunteer committees that contribute to the success of an event, including fundraising goals
· Recruit, coordinate, and manage event volunteers as required
Assist with the creation of sponsorship packages and oversee sponsorship solicitation and stewardship, auction and raffle logistics, event promotion and collateral
· Track all prospects, donors, activities, proposals, reports, deadlines, and relationships via CRM
Cause-Related Marketing + Community Events
· Support the development and implementation of annual cause marketing, and other partner program plans, budgets, and revenue projections
· Coordinate with Marketing and Communications and other organizational stakeholders to identify opportunities to collaborate to help build new cause marketing assets
· Develop and oversee execution of the Foundation’s community events (third party or peer-to-peer) strategy
· Support community events organizers through answering inquires, providing a toolkit and/or drafting up agreements with individuals or corporations to fundraise on Take a Hike’s behalf
Special Projects
· Develop and implement Take a Hike’s 25th anniversary events strategies
· In collaboration with the Operations team and Board of Directors, coordinate logistics for the Foundation’s Annual General Meeting
· Support the Development team in on-going projects as needed
Post-secondary diploma (or certificate) in event management, marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field
· 3-5 years’ of recent related experience planning, managing and promoting events ideally in a fundraising environment
· Knowledge of fundraising streams and leveraging events as engagement and fundraising mechanisms
· Sound project-management skills with ability to multiple priorities with high attention to detail
· IT literacy, strong computer skills; comfort with Microsoft Office suite and basic knowledge of CRM databases (Salesforce is an asset)
· Willingness to work flexible hours as event schedule dictates
· This is a full-time permanent position based in our Vancouver, BC office with a minimum of two days a week in the office required and an expectation to be available evenings and weekends dependent on the needs of the events.
