We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Assistant or Engineer-in-Training to join our Transportation Design Team working out of the Barrie, ON Office.
The position involves providing assistance to Project Managers, Professional Engineers and technical staff on a variety of linear infrastructure projects. As an Engineering Assistant you will be given the opportunity grow and develop your skills under the guidance and support of a strong team of engineers with the goal of achieving your P. Prepare technical memoranda, preliminary and detailed design reports;
Participate in the production of contract drawings for roads, storm drainage systems, and water and wastewater related linear infrastructure;
Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and forms of tender;
Assist in proposal preparation in pursuit of new projects;
Support Contract Administrators during the tender and construction of roads, storm drainage systems, and water and wastewater linear infrastructure;
Become proficient in the use MS Office 365, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat to support design and construction activities
Other Duties as assigned (assist in Bridge Inspections, Environmental Monitoring, Road Need Study Data collection)
Working Knowledge of MS Office 365 programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
A passion and interest transportation and linear infrastructure design
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD) with demonstrated interest and ability to learn new systems;
Experience in design or construction of roads, storm drainage infrastructure, and or water /wastewater linear infrastructure design is considered an asset;
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat is considered an asset.
Project management, presentation, business/technical writing, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
