I n this part-time salaried position, the Home Visitor is responsible for providing long term emotional and practical support for families with children aged 0-6, who self-refer to the home visitation program. This program works with families who seek resources, information and services through the Family Resource Network (FRN) and its many programs. By developing strong relationships with family members, the Home Visitor is able to help the family design relevant goals and implement and evaluate action plans. Through collaboration with community partners, the families’ needs are assessed and strategies are put into place to support the healthy development of the family. The Home Visitor will provide support to the families in their homes and a variety of other settings with the goal of helping them to learn necessary skills, such as problem solving, child development, parenting skills, budgeting and conflict management. You are able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with children and youth and their families as well as with community agencies and resources. You have experience with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds, are sensitive to their cultural and spiritual needs and can incorporate these into planning for families. A Diploma or Degree in a related field and/or previous experience working with vulnerable children and families is required
Willing to work a flexible work week, including evenings and weekends when needed
A valid Alberta Driver’s License, reliable vehicle for work purposes, adequate and current insurance and willing to provide a Driver’s Abstract upon hire
