Reporting to the Manager of Revenue and Receivables, this position plays a senior leadership role in the day to day management of Accounts Receivable and has responsibility for all aspects of financial and accounting services performed by a campus Accounts Receivable team.

  1. Plan, delegate, and supervise the work of the Regina Campus Accounts Receivable staff. Build a culture of service excellence that fosters a positive work environment and supports the overall organizational vision and strategic plan.
  2. Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of Accounts Receivable staff. Supervise training and assist with staff evaluation and discipline. Supervise daily/monthly/yearly accounting procedures and journal entries done by Accounts Receivable staff.
  3. Provides senior level financial expertise and support to assist management in planning, evaluating and controlling Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s resources. Provide key input for periodic reviews and updates of Sask Polytech policies and procedures related to Accounts Receivable.
  4. Provides expert knowledge and professional support on Accounts Receivable matters to internal and external clients and stakeholders. The position is regularly called on by various groups for advice, guidance and analysis on aspects of Banner Accounts Receivable and how it relates to fee assessment, revenue recognition, collections, cash receipts and invoicing of student accounts.
  5. Act as primary contact between Sask Polytech and credit/debit card processors.
  6. Act as functional lead in the ongoing development and maintenance of the Banner Accounts Receivable Module and related systems, services and processes. Provides leadership in the design, build, test, and implementation of upgrades and/or enhancements to Accounts Receivable systems, processes, and forms.
  7. Conduct annual Trust and endowment fund accounting and reconciliations at fiscal year-end.
  8. Perform month-end and year-end fiscal close process by running full set of Banner procedures and reconciliations in advance of financial statement preparation and Board reporting by senior Financial Services team.
  9. Assist with interpretation of changes to tax rules that apply to contracts, invoicing, etc. and provide advice/assistance to internal clients on issues related to GST and PST .
  10. Provide a key leadership role in the Sask Polytech-wide collection and reporting of student, vendor and donor Accounts Receivable.
  11. Travel may be required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

1. Completion of Professional Accounting designation i.e. CMA , CGA or CA or currently enrolled and successful completion within 2 years.
2. Minimum two years experience within the last five years applying accounting and financial theory, practice and procedures in a supervisory role.
3. Advanced computer skills including training or experience with computerized financial spreadsheets, accounting software, online computer systems and the ability to provide assistance in system development.
4. Training and experience in a diversified financial setting with increasing levels of responsibility.
5. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize and schedule multiple work assignments.
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) and customer services skills.
8. Ability to function independently and co-operatively in a team environment.
9. Ability to think critically, analyze complex problems with high attention to detail, make decisions and make recommendations.
10. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
