Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Backend Software Engineer position funded by the NRC IRAP Program, which has specific eligibility requirements outlined here:

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable and high-performance AI applications integrated with external APIs.
  • AWS environment configuration, setup and administration to host custom LLMs and Diffusion AI models on AWS Sagemaker/EC2.
  • Take ownership of the creation of new customer-facing features and product experiences.
  • Improve web applications and cloud infrastructure to ensure speed and scalability.
  • Continuously innovate and collaborate in a fast-paced, cutting-edge research environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in backend software engineering.
  • Basic understanding of backend development concepts including serverless architecture, APIs, databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies we use such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, API Gateway and CI/CD pipelines is a plus. While deep expertise is not expected, a willingness to learn and work with these services is essential.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Node.js or Python. Familiarity with JavaScript and TypeScript is a plus.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of features from end-to-end and comfortable learning new tools or technologies as needed.
  • Passion for AI/ML and its applications.
