One of our manufacturing clients is looking for a Buyer in Vaughan, ON for their facility.

Responsibilities

  • Source, select, and negotiate contracts with suppliers for materials, components, and services required for automotive manufacturing, ensuring favorable terms, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry developments to identify potential suppliers, assess risks, and capitalize on opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to understand procurement requirements and specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including conducting regular supplier evaluations, addressing performance issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain quality, delivery schedules, and cost targets.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Monitor inventory levels, production schedules, and demand forecasts to optimize inventory management and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and components, resolving any transportation or delivery issues that may arise.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, supplier performance, lead times, and inventory turnover, providing regular reports and insights to management.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting the automotive supply chain, incorporating relevant insights into procurement strategies and decisions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the procurement team, sharing best practices, mentoring junior staff, and actively contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a post-secondary education in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
  • Accumulation of 4+ years of pertinent work experience within a procurement setting as a buyer.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and materials.
