Reporting to Manager, Employment Services , the Senior Coordinator, Employer Engagement & Outreach will focus on creating and managing valuable partnerships with businesses and employers leading to employment opportunities for job seekers in Abilities Centre Employment Services.The candidate will provide support, guidance, and training to Coordinator, Employment Services to work within Abilities Centre job development framework, ensuring job seekers find and retain meaningful employment. The candidate will possess a strong knowledge and understanding of employment services and businesses in Durham Region, outreach and engagement strategies, and the everchanging labour market.
You will coordinate with the Research department to identify and establish needs of communities and gaps in services, and you will design and implement services based on the identified gaps.
In partnership with the Research and the Employment team, you will implement the Program Impact Framework to measure and collect data related to outcomes, goals, and impact for job seekers using Employment Services.
You will support Project SEARCH (Durham) with successful completion of job development activities in collaboration with Skills Trainers and Instructors, including:
Using a person-centered approach in identifying employment barriers and goals for each intern to develop individualized employment action plans.
Collaborating with Human Resources at each host business site to identify open entry-level positions that align with intern’s career goals and assess suitability.
~ You will collaborate with the Coordinator, Employment Services to review relevant job seeker documentation and complete impact collection and documentation in department database.
You will work with the Manager, Employment Services and Coordinator, Employment Services to develop and deliver employer resources that ensure job seekers are supported and successful in the job development stage.
You will monitor and evaluate the success of job development processes and identify gaps and opportunities for future development which will contribute to the development of a Job Development Framework ( this framework will clearly outline tangible steps and approaches in relation to successful job development for individuals with disabilities ).
You will work with the research team to collect, collate, and analyze data to track and evaluate project metrics, assess programming gaps, and measure impact of job development.
Engagement and Outreach .
You will establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
You will develop and implement an effective outreach strategy to create and enhance relationships with community partners, funders, and employers.
You will upkeep, develop, and maintain a comprehensive employer database and create strong relationships with Durham Region employers as part of the recruitment strategy for Abilities Centre employment services.
You will work with prospective employers to educate and understand the social and economic benefits of investing in a work culture that supports inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.
You will represent Abilities Centre in business community networks and collaboration initiatives.

You have post-secondary education in Social Services, Career Counselling, Adult Education, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field .
You have 1-3 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities.
You are familiar with job searching techniques, local provincial labour markets, interviewing skills, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work programming.
Familiarity with AODA employment requirements, Ontario Human Rights requirements, Employment standards act (ESA) & Occupational Health & Safety Act is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the Project SEARCH (Durham) model/framework is considered an asset.

You exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and an awareness of barriers to success, including learning limitations.
You have effective planning, organizing and time management skills, and can work independently without close supervision.
You are a team player, flexible and can handle multiple tasks and demands efficiently.
Administrative Requirements .
CVRP and/or RRP certifications is considered an asset.
Crisis Intervention and Prevention certification is considered an asset.
