Vocational Training Teacher

The Fortune Society is seeking to fill the position of Vocational Instructor to oversee the design and implementation of activities to train program participants in basic computer skills and facilitate the Social Services training. Under the supervision of Manager of Training Programs, the Instructor will be responsible for conducting afternoon and evening instructional workshops on computer literacy and Social Services training, along with assessing the work readiness skills of participants. The Vocational Instructor will also assist in providing administrative support regarding enrollments and participant follow-up.
Design and facilitate innovative and engaging curricula for Social Services training that includes industry best practices in social services; case management administration and relationship building;
Collaborate with staff to recruit, screen, and assess clients for enrollment into the Social Services training;
Design and facilitate dynamic curricula for jobseekers to develop and enhance core competencies in computer proficiency needed to succeed in the workforce, including activities relating to email development and usage, editing documents (resume, cover
letters) in Microsoft Word, and best practices using search engines for self-directed job search;
Collaborate with the Manager of Training Programs in the management of relationships with subcontractors related to IT/Computer training initiatives; assist in partnership procurement process (development of Memorandums of Understanding, generate invoices and payment requests) and provide ongoing communication with subcontractors and partners, including site visits;
Oversee the usage and scheduling of vocational and educational laptops, computer lab, and computer resource center;
Enter electronic attendance data, maintain student attendance logs, progress and test folders;
Interact in regular participant case conference and planning meetings with Education and Employment Services staff;
Contribute to the development and expansion of the Education and Employment programs;
High school diploma or GED/HSE required.
A minimum of 2years of professional experience facilitating, training, counseling, or providing workforce development services;
High degree of computer proficiency with the ability to provide instruction in basic computer skills, Microsoft word, email, and internet applications;
comfort with interpreting and using data for program improvement
Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus;
Ability to work as an effective part of a team, with individuals of varied backgrounds (both experiential and academic);
Ability to apply skills learned from prior work experience, or formal academic training in a related subject area, to the day-to-day project activities;
